Bill,
Thanks for the tip on camstudio .... BUT, my system's antimalware (panda) did not like it...
I hope your system is okay!

Justin

A work around that  I use for the Windows problem with video recording (in my case also screen capture) is a free open source program. Camstudio. Available from http://camstudio.org/  .  It even allows you to select a subset of the screenfor recording.

For screen captures I use a free product Xnview.  Xnview even has some pretty impressive simple image processing capabilities.

Hi Justin:

The video recording does get buggy after win7.. but I'll be revisiting it shortly. The code Im working on is for a 2d simulator and it will need recording, so Ill be updating that code to more modern standards soon. Sorry for the bug, but
they changed quite a bti on avi recording about the time Win8 came out and I havent played in that section in awhile.
I have added it to the update list for this season. You may want to try downloading a codec pack, I have heard from Win10 systems that have worked, so some codecs may..depending on the video card and system.

Thx
Art

Recording animations fails -- Error Found: 1667

by JustinO » Sat Nov 19, 2016 5:39 pm

I'm trying to record the gear window -- empty or with a project loaded.
When I hit "REC" in the properties panel, I get one frame/click of motion, and a zero byte sized .AVI is stashed in the GearData directory.
There is a flash of text: "Unable to Create Compressed Stream: Check Your CODEC Options"
When I check the "Sel Codec" box and hit "REC" I get the "Video Compression" dialog.
Clicking "OK" gives the 1667 error.

I'm running GT3.011, but this was happening in earlier versions.
I'm running Windows 8, which is probably the problem...

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
-Justin Odhner
