Its a very strange error. Im still thinking virus related..

Attempted to correct. turned off anti-virus (windows defender and avira) even uninstalled avira.  added gearotic to windows defender list to permit changes.  still no joy.  can re-install stable version (only error is file not found/cannot create shortcut).  but stable version of gearotic and vexx both work when started from their respective exe files.

likely not related to gearotic so apologies for asking if you have any suggestions that a script baby could follow.

That may be the trouble, Id try disabling antivirus and doing the install. Im thinking the antivirus is
destroying the install trying to repair a non problem.

Anything I could do, or information provide to assist you ... again, no rush as the stable version works (just cant use the newer features).
you mention antivirus, I use Windows Defender and Avira Antivirus (and have since getting this laptop around July 2017).
and i get an error with the distributable (mentioned that last time, left it out this time) - but select, repair.

Actually , I suspect a debug version was put in the release in error. 2.92 megs is the correct size of gearotic
in general release.That debug is way larger than it should be. I wont fix that till I can figure out why yours fails. I suspect its some type of antivirus thing..
but Im not sure as to why vexx wouldnt run either. Its pretty much the same between versions.

in case it might be relevant (like download isn't working 'cause of firefox browser settings, although when I tested this a few weeks ago, i did use another browser and no joy then):

Gearotic.exe 2017-11-17 (development version) 2,993kb (kinda small when the stable version weighs in on my machine > 13,000kb
vexx.exe 2017-12-30 9,152kb (similar to version installed when running stable version download).

in hopes that this helps you to help me.  :-)

PS.  downloaded development version using MS Edge.  sorry to say same result.

Win 10, 64b, on a dell alienware laptop; don't believe anything unusual - in other words, not a sophisticated user myself so if there is something unusual it would be the machine itself doing that.  all the prior development versions installed and worked just fine, even on this machine (only have had it about 5 months).

Have now downloaded (again) the development version and installed on c:.  Same errors/etc.  BTW the date stamp on gearotic.exe @ c:\gearotic motion is 2017-11-17.  Won't start; get the improper shutdown message. 

Brian, what OS, 32/64b, and type of computer is it?  Anything unusual, like bootcamp under MacOS?

I just updated on the latest version of W10 64b, both Gearotic 3.0 and Vexx installed without errors, and opened without any issue.  It installed the C++ 2017 executable also, fwiw.

Art, it still says Copywrite 2013...

Its an odd message to get. Are you installing in the default C:\Gearotic Motion\ folder?
