While gearifysoftware.com appears to have gone dark gearify.com is still registered. The developer likes using postmaster for an email address so perhaps he'll respond to postmaster@gearify.com .

Looking through my email history I see he went single payment in 2023, but I missed it. Around that time I was preoccupied with health issues and not keeping up, otherwise I'd have probably kicked in the payment and gotten it myself.

Dave:

It seems that the website is dead. I know the author was working on a new financial model to
keep it running, but its been awhile since I was in touch with him. I know that software such as
Gearotic and Gearify are hard to monetize in any meaningful way these days, its a very limited
audience.
For me its been a hobby, the sales of Gearotic basically keep its lights on in terms of website,
security certificates and such, so its never really had to pay for programming time. Hopefully,
Gearify is just on a rebuild, but it may be gone , its hard to say.

Niche software is very hard to support, your either quite successful , or your gone. Its
typically a labor of love or you just cant afford to do it. Luckily I had Mach3 as my first
project, a true labor of love, and that gave me the freedom to do what I want, so Gearotic
has lasted for 14 years or so, but you could never make a living from it. Im retired, the
author of Gearify has a real job. It can be a very hard balance.

I wish him well and hope we see it reappear, it truly did become a wonderful program.

Gearotic will be around for at least 2 more years if nothing changes, I've renewed
for this year, and will most probably do so next year as well. My research these days
in in Ai, so not much will make it to Gearotic unless I have some weird idea of mixing
the two. The internals of Ai are fascinating on so many levels.

Long answer I know, but things have been slow here with all that's going on
in the world, so I figured Id answer long so you all know Im still alive. :)

Best regards to all,
Art

Hello all,
I got Gearify 2.0 a couple of years ago but only recently got a round to working with it. My version seems slightly older than the version in the very helpful Youtube tutorials so I tried to go to the website to download the latest version. However the website seems to be gone. Does anyone know if Gearify 2.0 is still available and where it can be found?

Thanks!

Hi:

Awesome video, it looks like the involutes cure a lot of ills. I like what you've done, and I'm one of a very few who can appreciate
the hassle you had in learning the way the pressure angles affect the ellipticals and such. Its nice to see someone younger than 60
ready to take on the gear world. :) As a one guy shop myself I appreciate all your hard work , it brings back a lot of memories ..

I look forward to the update,

Art

Cool, looking forward to it. I sent you an email address, but it might be a good idea to post a link to your survey here too. I'll volunteer if you need any beta testers

Hello, all!

As was mentioned above I am indeed hard at work on the next version of Gearify. I just released a 20ish minute video/talk on the status of the upcoming product.

Hope you all will check it out!

Thanks Kirk:

Good to know. Its a nice program. I expect I'm several months away
from the next incarnation as well. Im finding the physics a bit harder to properly
simulate in 3d versus the Auggie simulator in 2d. ITs a great learning experience though.

I just emailed Michael Valle wondering if he was still around, and he replied that he's "hard at work developing the next version and expect to announce some very exciting new features that are planned for it in the coming months."

ArtF wrote: Looks good. Looks very similar as to how Gearotic does it, a digital subtraction where the involute evolves from the instantaneous rate of change during its construction?
Right now, these curves are generated without any subtraction at all, just solving differential equations numerically in 2 dimensions. This produces "pure" involute curves that are exactly correct at every point. The only problem is that since these curves evolve, they may interfere with each other as they engage or disengage, so my last task is to find an appropriate solution to minimally clip, truncate or sheer off areas to prevent the teeth from jamming - that final piece may be done via a subtraction algorithm, but we'll see.
