Hi Art,
I'm in the process of making a ratchet and pawl system for winding up the weights on a wooden clock.
I'm a little stuck - I would like to put 4 pawls around a ratchet so that gravity will work for me when winding. So far so good - the problem arises when I try to put a 1/2 inch shaft diameter in the ratchet gear (which gets firmly fixed to the Great Wheel) and a 1/8 inch shaft diameter in the pawls. The large shaft is wood and the small one is steel. I can't seem to figure out how to have two different shaft sizes in the ratchet / pawl arrangement.
