Fudging Bevel Gears

Art,
I told you once a long time ago that I seemed to remember from my apprenticeship that there was a way to fudge a bevel gear on the mill by rotating the dividing head and moving the table. You said that if I ever found the info to let you know. I found it in my 1943 edition of Gear Cutting ...

Re: L Pulleys

I'm still not sure what is going on with my old laptop in the shop, but the desktop upstairs works just like you said it would. Could also be cranial flatulation. Thanks.

L Pulleys

Art,
I cut a couple of 'L' pulleys back in the first part of June, a 24 tooth and a 15 tooth, and the both worked perfectly. I'm replacing the motor on my little milling machine and need to cut a new motor pulley. The belt doesn't fit with the present Gcode output. Also I get the same ...

Re: Is it possible to cut 53-400 threads on my mill

I found the specs for your thread at plastcaps.com/spi-neck-finish-specifications-for-standard-closures-2-4.htm. If I were going to try to cut this thread, first I would grind a single point tool that would fit in a boring bar. Then you'll need to determine the actual diameter that it will cut. Put ...

You're killing me!

Art,
You're killing me with all of your ideas. Every time I get ready to sign my retirement papers you come up with something new and I have to keep working so I can buy more parts. Next time you have an idea about something please check with me first and make sure that I have indeed retired. That ...

Art,
I never really thought that I'd have a use for a webcam. Now I gotta find a good one soon.

Re: the dreaded internal gear....

The only internals I've cut have been on a wire EDM. If it's a prototype, you may be able to find someone local that can at least make 1 for you to prove your concept.
