Re: 3d from grey scale
I have spent the last 15 or so years working with CO2 lasers and recently decided to try, as they have improved considerably in recent times, a cheap, Chinese, UV, diode laser. Although the laser is only 5 Watts in true output power it incorporates 4 diodes with an optical system that parallels the ...

A true Engineer who certainly knows how to get the maximum diversity of use from his 10M Shaping Machine.
I have not seen one for many years now but, back in their day, the ‘Shaping Machine’ was the ‘Milling Machine’ before Milling Machines were invented.

Re: A step back in time.
Hi Art.
I agree about the 3D printing – I purchased a small bank of printers a while back and they are running most days. As for lasers, I think I am still enjoying the good old days. :lolno:
Here’s another one to test your memory & believe it or not I am still using this on occasion.

A step back in time.
Back in 2007 Art had the foresight to write the Impact / Laser Photo Engraving plugin for Mach3 at a time when very few of us had lasers to try it out.
Although busy with his Gearotic Motion software, Art spent precious time towards the end of November 2010 rewriting some of the Engraver code to ...

Hi Kirk,
My money is on that the .tap file extension was from ‘tape’ the portable storage medium from way back in the day.
Interested to hear the history of it from Art though.

Re: Just Getting Started - Setting up Mach 4 and Laser
Hi Guys,
I gave Mach4 my best shot over the years but having the development of the Trajectory Planner and the Motion Controller under different roofs got the better of me in the end.
Like many of the original, long time, Mach3 users I eventually migrated to UCCNC and my first post on the CNCdrive ...
