So...it seems that a crank that turns a gear through ~140? that runs a smaller diameter (1/2) gear would move that gear through my desired motion, I think. Any comments/ideas?
TIA

Need Advice on how to accomplish movement
I want to construct a machine that will rock an item about 270 degrees. Can someone point me to what might be the easiest way to accomplish this?
Specifically I am trying to construct a device to hold .3x.3x70" strips of bamboo (fly rod splines) that nodal areas need to be moved over a heat ...

Practical Gears
A few months back I needed some help from you guys to make some timing gears. Attached is a picture of the end result.
all of the black parts, gears and others are PLA. This little device is a autofeed for bamboo strips through a router bit. There is a small geared DC motor ...

Spiral Cam?
What I'm trying to do is create a nob/gear that when turned one full revolution will, from point zero to 359, have increased by .25 in.
Any math wiz know how to do this? Can it be done in GT?

Re: D shaft
HI Dan,
Actually I printed up a set of spur gears yesterday with just PLA filament. I had to bring the dxf into my cad (haven't learned how to use Vexx) and added the solid to the axle hole on the two drivers. Saved the STL and brought into Cura for slicing and then sent it on to the printer ...

Would like to see a D shaft option. Nice for printing gears as a driver.

License - Warning!
Just a heads up to everyone that your license is tied to your email account. If you ever change providers you will not be able to get a license if your computer dies. Make sure you have a backup of the license file somewhere. So much for once licensed always licensed.

Help with Centering Fixture
I'm a novice at gears so bear with me. I have attached a link to a fixture I would like to make something similar. They give some ratios but don't explain what they are referencing.
could someone enlighten me?
I assume R1 and R2 reference the radius of the orange and yellow gears ...

Re: timing belt racks
Thanks guys. Not trying to reinvent the wheel(gear) here but since the accuracy of timing belts with lots of teeth meshing with a rack of like profile seems desirable.
Thought someone had probably already tried it and failed/succeeded.
Art, you could draw one easily in gearotic that uses an ...

Re: timing belt racks
Not thinking of using it in a rack and pinion manner. Imagine more like a tank with the timing belt as the track and the earth as the rack.
