Re: Forum Crash

More digging, there's a lot of users with names that suggest search engine web crawlers, except some of them show posts with old dates. I sorted the member list by join date to find the recent signups, then clicked on a few with non-zero posts. The posts I looked at don't look spammy but it would be ...

Re: Forum Crash

Interestingly it let me disapprove a spam post in Russian. You might have a hole somewhere if they managed to register and post.

Edit: everybody is a site admin, which isn't a good thing.

Re: Gearify

While gearifysoftware.com appears to have gone dark gearify.com is still registered. The developer likes using postmaster for an email address so perhaps he'll respond to postmaster@gearify.com .

Looking through my email history I see he went single payment in 2023, but I missed it. Around that ...

Moving to a new laptop

After 10 years it's time to replace the i5-5200u laptop I primarily use for CNC, and got a new core ultra 7 fancier one to replace it. Deciding what software to keep and move over to the new lappie has been a project. I was thinking of copying over all of the Gearotic program and data file, to ...

Re: 3d from grey scale

Impressive, as always, Tweakie!

Slightly OT, but I've done some playing around with Marigold , they've done some updating and split off 3D reliefs into a separate project since I last tried it, links on the page.

My CNC time has been down for a few years and mostly limited to chip v-carving. I'm ...

Re: Mach3 History

I never thought of that, but I should have. Back in the early 70s when I worked as a Univac systems programmer, I did a project to punch "paper", really mylar, tapes from an 1106, via a tape reader/punch connected to a 9300, for NASA CNC machines. Putting 5x7 characters on the leader was my favorite ...

Mach3 History

In another forum a question came up on the plethora of gcode file extensions, which led to why Mach3 used dot tap for gcode files. That lead to a search that found a history of Mach3 but no answer.

Kind of off topic, but do you remember, Art?

Re: CNC Mandalas

I spent a lot of time offsetting and node editing while making chip carving designs from a beginner how-to book that was intended for pencils and actual chip carving knives. It would be nice if VCarve got the concept of enclosed spaces that aren't closed shapes. Estlcam kind of does but it's ...
