2.279 (and the previous version) is cactus on my PC.
When I start, the window strobes between the blue check pattern an black - I thought it was while "tip window" was up, but it seems timed - it does it at other times for about 1sec.
The message text at the top center is overwriting itself (see ...

Re: Bevel face width
Thanks.
My issue wasn't that I needed extra strength with a wider face, it is those little peaks, which don't 3D print well. I originally was going to edit the .stl files and try and stretch them, but it was easier just to slice at the round face. So I needed to add some width back.

Bevel face width
Can the face width of a bevel (helical) gear be set?
There is a field for it, and it is displayed in the list of parameters when a gear is placed, but the actual gear doesn't change.
Picture attached in case my terminology is incorrect.

Lock up
I accidentally pasted a URL into the "Module" field in the Spur Gear section in GM and it locked up.
I tried to copy the value from the Module text box in GT using Ctrl-C, but Ctrl-C copy doesn't work. Mouse right click does.
It appears to lock up GM if any non-numeric text is entered.

1) Hypocycloidics
2) Casing/Boxing.
3) Non-Circular Gears.
From a sales/marketing point of view, Hypocycloidics come up a lot at cnczone in discussions about DIY 4th axis and other low backlash gearbox situations.

Bevel gear stl problems
I'm seeing a few glitches in the stl files generated for bevel gears.
I'm only using simple software that doesn't seem to be able to repair them properly.
When I load a bevel gear into Netfabb Studio Basic 4.9 (the free version), it shows a strange line through the gear, see attachment. Even after ...

Re: Bevel gear dimensions
What I ended up doing was calculating the distance using the Outside Diameter, Face Cone Angle and Cone Distance. See picture below. I'm not sure if Cone Distance is the correct value to use, but by eye the results look ok.
A bit of a brain fade there. Cone Distance isn't used. It's just...

Thanks for making a new release for me, unfortunately I struggled to find the reference point to use.

Re: Bevel gear dimensions
Thanks for the reply, but that didn't help.
I did what you suggested, and this is what I got, see attachment.
The red cross is approximately 0,0,0
It doesn't help me position the gear on the axle at the correct position to mesh with the other gear.
I'm trying to position 3 gears on a tee shaped ...

Re: New Version - 4.95 install
I clicked on the AutoTrain button, and it said it needed to do some calculations and would be back in a minute. I just got an error box saying...
c:\Program Files\Gearotic Motion Release\gprimes3.bin was not found.
The Gear Train Calculator then never shows any gear combinations.
Turns out it ...
