Re: Epilog to Auggie Conversion

I started with Mach2, then Mach3,  used Gearotic motion, then Gearotic Thoughts and now Gearotic so I like to think I pretty adept at following your logic by now.    I still have fond memories of getting tangential gear shaving to work.

Attached are a DXF of a sample Corel Draw ...

Epilog to Auggie Conversion

I've been watching your adventures for a while now and am pretty close to jumping in, but I have some lingering questions.

The backstory is that I have some older Epilog laser engravers and some parts are just no longer available.  Epilog has been fantastic over the years helping me keep these ...

Re: Is it possible to cut 53-400 threads on my mill

It's not a "normal" thread.  It's for a jar so it's kinda rounded.

Is it possible to cut 53-400 threads on my mill

I have a tormach 1100 with a 4th axis and was trying to wrap my head around how I might cut 53-400 threads in some blocks. I need to make some fixtures to hold bottles (think of the old idea of nailing mason jar lids to the underside of a shelf to hold jars of screws and such).

I'm sure it's ...

Backlash in GT

I thought I asked this years ago or maybe it's covered in one of the videos but I'll ask it again.

GM had a backlash setting when placing gears, I don't think GT does. What I don't remember is what I am supposed to do if I want a little bit of slop in my gear train. If there is a video I need to ...

Re: Gear Linkage question

You've given me some things to play around with and it looks like it works the way I want. I've been away from this for too long and am slowing getting used to the gearotic way of thinking again.

There is another gear driving A. And then a bunch a gears off B that finally get back to C. Can I place ...

Gear Linkage question

I have four gears on the same shaft.  A,B,C,D    I want A and B to be linked, and C,D to be linked separately.  So none are linked to the shaft, but to each other.

I can post my project if that helps.

Re: Where to get a R8 arbor for involute cutter

That's what I am leaning toward.  I have a Tormach and I use their TTS tooling system,  I called and they suggested about the same thing, use one of their blanks and make one.  The blanks are pretty cheap at $19.

Re: Making a Ring

Now I remember, I thought the feature was there.  Before I asked I searched on "0" and "teeth" and racked my brain trying to recall.

Thanks Art.

Re: Making a Ring

Along the same lines, I need to make a circular disk and would like to use the same spokes as the rest of my project.  I tried setting the number of teeth to zero and really bad things happened.

Is being able to do stuff like this still in the works?
