It was a folder permissions problem. I don't remember changing it, but the networked environment
I use can play tricks with the OS.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have tried all of the above now.
1. Made a directory called "TempData". No difference.
2. Re-installed the vcredist_x86 and let it repair. No difference.
3. Uninstalled vcredist_x86, then re-installed it. No difference.
4. Deleted everything to do with gearotic ...

I just found an interesting corner case to this problem: if I generate a 3d-dxf file first, I am
able to generate the 2d-dxf file. Otherwise, the 2d-dxf generation makes a hard crash...

I am having the same problem with Gearotic crashing while trying to generate an escapement.
