I use cut2d by vectric. It cost 150.does and does basic 2.5 d stuff fast and is easy. I have not tried the others mentioned. Guess you should try out stuff first and see what you like best. Or just buy them all

I have seen a gear program that can do oddball shapes.
Not efficient but fun to look at.
Is there any way I can manipulate certain variables under "Non'-Circular" , "Cage"  etc to get me a square or rectangular type shape?

Are there any tutorials on making a ring gear with inner planet gears and a center sun gear?
I have been trying unsuccessfully... close but no cigar.

I am trying to find where you can set the approximate diameter of the first gear.
I did run across a pop-up where i can set the diameter, but that was by accident. Where is the setting?

I see v2.001 listed as the stable download.
Is it still considered the most stable or are any of the newer versions considered stable.

I have the status bar enabled (clicking from the top menu - left side) and it shows a long gray strip at the bottom of the screen.
But no status is ever shown.  It just takes up screen space. .Is it working?

When I click the Measure icon, I am able to see a white line being drawn while i hold down the left mouse button but no measurement is shown. The only numbers I see moving are the x and y coordinates (which move all the time anyway).

Anyone know how I can read measurements?
