Vulcan Spring has the sv10g160 constant force spring for $10, but there is a $100 minimum (plus shipping). Do several people interested in building this ticker want to go in together to buy some springs?

Re: Welcome to Tickers..
Can you give the pertinent info you used to tap the wood pieces for set screws on Scimitar?...set screw thread count (10-32, 4-10, etc.), set screw length, drill bit size, tap bit size, etc. Do you know if the same info works for Baltic Birch plywood as well as hardwood?
Thanks

Sorry Art...I don't understand your posting..."teckl?"..."GM?"ArtF wrote: Remember too, you can just telkl Gearotic to print the gears for glueing to a panel for cutting, GM will
print at a 1:1 ratio so the size is correct.

Re: Welcome to Tickers..
Lately I have been getting into projects that came with .DXF files, suh as Scimitar. I've imposed on a fellow woodworker to print them out for me and mail them to me so I could spray mount them on plywood and cut them out. Though I'm not sure, I ASSUME Staples or Office Max could print them out for ...

Re: David C. Roy's Monarch II
I think you may be right about small magnets in the "butterfly" shaped pawls..After watching the close up video over and over till my eyeballs almost fell out...I see the "free" pawl move quickly towards the center...(brass rods) when it nears the trapped Pawl...no matter what direction it is ...

Re: David C. Roy's Monarch II
Art,
I was thinking that it had to be a magnet that Roy used. It's a lot more obvious on Monarch I (I believe), by the way the pawl "jumps", but I could be wrong.

David C. Roy's Monarch II
I am in the process of building my version of Monarch II. I think I have figured out the pawl that holds the wind (torsion spring to keep the pawl on the pin to keep the spring from unwinding, but still allow it to allow winding). My problem is I can't figure out how the 2nd pawl works to release ...

Printing .DXF files of Scimitar ticker
I am trying to print out the .DXF files so I can built this Scimitar ticker. I didn't have a CAD program, so I downloaded Bravo! free DWG Viewer software. I don't seem to have the ability to print Tiled printouts and the size of the drawing seem to be huge. Any suggestions? What is the approx. size ...
