Double pendula compound grasshopper escapement
Hi Art
This clock is my most recent one and demanded some new challenges for me. The designer is from Germany and the materials he called for are not easily available here is Canada. Since the plans were dfx a quite a lot of reverse engineering was called for.

Re: Bearings in clocks
I’ve just completed David Atkinson’s Sextus design and it is the first clock that I installed steel bearings. Although David has bearings in several locations I only installed them on the pendula. Since the escapement is a grasshopper type it is highly sensitive to the drive weight to regulate the ...

Registration pin
Hi Art
Is there a way to include a registration pin (hole) in a gear? My situation is that I often ?stack? gears such as small pinions and if I don?t get near perfect alignment the stacked pinion is useless. If there was a pin ?hole? accurately located between the arbor hole and the ...

Re: Chain Drive
I discovered that the epicycloidal gears do non respond to either the tooth width nor the stub settings. Is that right or am I doing something wrong? The flat sided shape of epicycloidal teeth looks like it might work best, but the tooth width would have to be reduced I think.

Chain Drive
Hi Art,
I'm building a clock in which the weight drive is via a ball chain. The chain has 100 balls in 24.5 inches. I want the balls to engage a cage wheel. The issue I have is how to calculate the DP so that the ball chain engages perfectly.

Club Footed Clock
I've cut several club footed designs using Vexx, but this if the first one I've applied to a time train.
