Re: import into fusion360
It does kill fusion the reason why is the .DXF has lots of sort lines and fusion does not play well with this type of .DXF.
the reason it is crashing your computer does not have enough ram and graphics ram.
At a minimum you need 2 gig of graphics and 6 gig of ram, and a processor above 2.60 Ghz, with a ssd, if you wont to use .dxf from gearotic you will need a more powerful computer.
the other way is to make the .dxf smaller to a scale, import it into autocad360 set the units then take it into fusion do a press pull then delete the gear sketch, that will remove most of the load on fusion, but it will still be slow.
I will have a play when fusion is back up and running and see if I can find a way to use a Gearotic gear in fusion.
why do you wont to use the gear in fusion.

Re: import into fusion360
I'm designing a barrel for a clock that holds the spring. I'm trying to use the wheel from Gearotic and modifying it into a barrel.
I have not found an easy way to make a gear directly in Fusion 360.
My computer has an Intel i7 3.50 GHZ with 2.0 graphic RAM and 16 GB RAM so my computer should not be the issue.
If I make the DXF smaller to a scale (Not sure how to do that) will I lose any accuracy of the gear?

Re: import into fusion360
take it into Autocad360 first set the units and export it back out from there then import it into fusion. fusion stuffs up the units so use Autocad360 it fixes this problem, it still will be slow as a wet week but it should be better.
you have more grunt that me so it should be ok.
Autocad360 is free for fusion users you just use your fusion login to use it

Re: import into fusion360
you have to weight 2 hours to the update is finished
Re: import into fusion360
your files work fine in fusion now what ever they did to the .dxf import and use it made it better it's just a bit slow.
I also converted your file to mm and exported it out as a .dwg from Autocad360 it works a little bit better

Re: import into fusion360
you don't need to run it through Autocad360 any more only tested with your file is it metric
Re: import into fusion360
Im kinda surprised any program has a problem with the file size.. its not that many points that any trouble should be seen, Vectric could probably load dozens of them at once. Ive tested the posted files, they seem fine. I want quite following the full
