Version Update
Version Update
Hi Guys:
Due to some errors in profile shifting, the dev version has been upgraded with new control code for shifting.
In this version is the mostly complete gear train calculator. (On the round gear page) I will do a video on its use
soon when its complete.
This version is really so I can run some tests with John S who is testing some code for me, but if you DO use
it please let me know of any issues as it contains a great deal of new code.
Thx

Re: Version Update
The material choice is still an issue
Seems to me if I choose brass for the shafts as default, all new shafts should be bass
And if I choose red plastic for the Evolutes then all new gears should default to red plastic.
Then If I rename gears or a shaft in the tree then new issues arise.
Something is not quite right, but I cant seem to get my head around it.
Project tree re-sorts itself but not sure why.
If I add a pinion and then add ratchet then hit undo, both ratchet and pinion get erased.
Adding ratchet seems to me like I am adding it to the wrong side visually, I have to put it on the back (top of screen) to see it in the front after placing it. Am I looking from the bottom up when I add the ratchet?
Hitting reset I would think the rotation angle should go to zero.
If I add a pinion the rotation angle is a huge number.
Not following what this is telling me.
Not to be picky, but I'm getting old and things irk me. ;D

I agree, I;ll check it.

The only sorting it should do is if shafts change. Make sure the tree is set to sort by shaft. ( small selector top of tree on left.)
>>If I add a pinion and then add ratchet then hit undo, both ratchet and pinion get erased.
Thats because a ratchet is a single device, it isnt two. Its special in that regard, but shoud be intuitive if you get used to the thought.

Look to the head, when you place it, youll notice the heads face it at the top, it means thats the front. Its a matter of what direction its looking in from,
backwards to one person is forwards to another, but if you always look to the head it becomes intuitive..

Really an internal message for me, it will soon change to what youd expect as I add ratio tracking..
Thx

Re: Version Update
Hi:
Cant find a material error, it seems to keep on mine. ( Though when you first place it , the material will "look" wrong
because its currently selected. Deselect it and it should show the material thats set in the options.
Just discovered a bug in the recoil and graham escapements, fixed and updated a few minutes ago, ( The pawls were broken).
Thx

Re: Version Update
I believe, because I am always downloading the new versions on a laptop 32bit Win7.
That most of the issues are 32bit and laptop graphics related, as I don't have the HEAD visible on my screen.
But the HEAD is visible on the 64bit Win8 system. Have not tried the material and sorting issue on that as of yet. Not one at sitting at a desk, to many projects to do in the shop.
Thanks

Re: Version Update
I would have bet (*and lost :-\) that I referred to a graphics issue on this laptop within the first couple of GT versions out.
*went back and looked at my old posts, could not find it. (another sign of ole age) :'(

Re: Version Update
Got no trouble on my old laptop but just checked and it's 64 bit which surprises me.
Off to install it on an old machine computer that's on XP, gotta be 32 bit ?
Runs this old crap controller software called Mach 3, you might have heard of it ;D
Mind you it is better than Mach 4 :'(

Re: Version Update
Dev version will not install on XP. tried two machines and get "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem"
but it doesn't.
quite an old machine, no network or internet connection so old .net framework ?

Re: Version Update
Hi Art,
I don't know if this is any help to you, but I have a partition on my Mac that is accessed by Parallels and runs Windows XP. I have installed the latest dev version without any problem. There are some peculiarities but the design portion works fine.
If I get system info this is what it says.
