Small Chrono

Post by John T »

Hi Art,
I'm trying to create a small version of the chromo escapement.  at at 2 inch ratchet driver and 1/8" shafts I'm having problems with the chromo impulse and the trigger pallet.
As you can see in photo the cut out on the chromo impulse is so deep that it cuts into the arbour and in the trigger pallet the arbour for the pin is only a slight indent and there is no hole to put the pin in.

Have I simply exceeded the limits of the program or is there some way to ensure that the cut out in the impulse is controlled and likewise on the trigger - is there any control on the pin?

John
PS I hope your shop insulating goes well.

Hi John:

Not much you can do other than raise the number of teeth.. The angles just get too acute for it. Mind you, the disk cutout is really made too allow
the ratchet to be used as a winder if the impulse pallet is in the right spot.. you CAN make a much shallower cut out, in fact its safer to make it just enough to allow a tooth to pass, that way the device cannot run down.,

Ill be making that change at some point as an optional cutout selection.
