Might as well add 3D embossing from a photo while your at it.

Art that is great for 3d printers. When I was playing with Intricad's Mimix which also used structured lights I found that the resulting files for even small objects was huge. When the programmer provided Simplification of the files they either became unusable or still had hundreds of thousands/millions of lines of code.
If someone created a full size file of an object like a face for their cnc router do you think it possible to get the fine condensed to a manageable size so it wouldn't take days to machine.

the outtie is just a nice 3d sculpture..

edit:  Camera shots just dont do them justice, the innies work with shadows, the camera is too good at killing shadow.. :)

Dan:

Im looking at that now. I will be adding a decimator to reduce the file size to a level you set,
and have also added resoltuion control so you can scan at smaller resolutions if you dont feel you need
the rather extreme detail thats possible in this type of thing..

Cant promise how it will all work.. but we'll see. Not long I hope before I put it out ...

heres  a few photos showing what happens to my head as I decimate from 300,000 vertices to 324 vertices in binary steps of 50% reduction.. You press a button to divide the
vertices by 2 each press.. Here what happens starting with one at 300K..

So as you can see by the progression, lowering the vertex count really doesnt hurt you till you get down to about
10% of the original for most usage. This will cause me some trouble with remeshing to create the image on a
pedestal for printing.. so Ill be delayed by a few days in release. Other than that its ready to be put out.. Worth
the delay I think.. its much easier to deal with smaller objects that have pretty much the same detail..
