Hi ARt,

Different results this time there are verticies on the OBJs but no faces. The STL still have 1 or 2 vertices with no faces.

I have attached the results; it if helps.

Hi Art,

Ok, I decided to test the msi installer on another older slower laptop. It appears to be working on that computer. So, my issue/concern/question now is what piece of software/library/SDK/etc is out of date or incorrect that maybe causing the issue.

So, if you have any suggestions or hints that would be great.

Thanks,

The MSI installed on my W10 notebook, ticker starts and seems to run fine.  However I couldn't figure out how to change numbers except with the slider which isn't especially accurate (nothing typed in the box does anything with and without a ctl-A).  While it appeared to create and save an (I'm assuming) obj file I couldn't figure out where it went or what the filename would be for a search.  I'm trying to tune my newly 32 bit controllered Ender 3 Pro and thought a hollowed out 1-8 shaft and nut would be a good test, particularly since I could try to screw it into my wood lathe chuck.

I'm a little confused on setting overall and threaded length, but expect that will become clear in the video.

Kirk

Edit: I was using shafts, not bolts which I see in the video have a much different looking screen, and since real programmers don't use manuals /ducks/ I opened ticker and started futzing around.  Watching the video now...

Found the obj file in Shafts, operator error trying to open instead of import in Prusa Slicer.  Print is now in progress.

I reinstalled (the WIN10 MSI file).  The date on the Ticker.exe file doesn't look like it changed from what it was (1/29/2021).  The program itself seems to work fine, but again, the STL files are unreadable by any of the programs I use (Sketchup 17, Aspire, Ideamaker slicer).

I'm running this on a fairly new/clean Win10 laptop.

Prusa slicer 2.3.0 found a few repairable errors on mine (I used obj and had to reorient from horizontal to upright) and printed OK, deleted 6 triangles iirc.  I don't know if there's any standalone free versions of netfabb left (prusa slicer will call it on request) but that might be an option.

My 1"-8 bolt and nut with an MT2 minor diameter sized hole (as close as I could get to 0.5720" with the slider, but not enough shells to actually ream it if the reamers weren't up north) printed OK, about an hour each on my E3P.  Don't screw together, the threads were a little blobby, really need to get around to calibrating the extruder and flow rate better but still playing around with the 32b controller.  Super quiet with TMC2225 drivers, fans (upgraded the hot end but not part cooling fan) and occasional retract/detracts are about the only thing audible.

Ok,  I found a sequence of events that works.

Open ticker
Create bolt / nut combo using simple method
Apply, then ok
Export models as obj
Check STL/OBJ box
Export models as stl
Then I have successful STLs that are printable.
The OBJ files still reports errors (as before) in meshlab

To create another bolt/nut combo I have to exit ticker and restart.

Thanks,

Hi All:

So apparently at times the faces index is zeroed.. It may be that various video cards are refusing to feed back the
index buffer during a frame creation. Ive moved the timing of the export so its before a frame is being started.
Ive also added error checking through the creation chain so that if the faces are missing, youll get a warning
about it and the export will fail.
Long and short, the newest version today may fix the trouble. I cannot repeat it here, it seems my buffer
is untouched though the export creation chain. But it "may" fix it. :)

Thx

Hi,

The results did change. Here are my results at first glance.

I can run ticker and create and OBJ bolt. But, the STL version is 1 Vertis  0 faces; no matter what sequence I try and the error message does not appear.

After I create 1 bolt/nut combo and try to change to another (apply then ok) I get the error message (Error, zeroed faces export phase).

Only when I close and re-open can I create a different bolt/nut combo.

Hope this helps.... Thanks
