Hi Guys:

For those having trouble running GT, Bob was crashing as well and we found it was related to a texture load routine, Ive killed it temporarily and uploaded a version without that texture. Seems to run for Bob now, as well as on all my machines.

Thx

Hi Art,

That "vc runtime download 2008" worked.  As you know I work on a Mac so I downloaded the "vc runtime download 2008" and the Mac side and then transferred it over to the Windows side and installed it.  I re-ran the Gearotic SETIP and now GT opens.

Now to have some fun.

Thanks Art

Hi Art,
I've "poked" away at most of the buttons I could find and everything seems to work for me (clock gears).  I'm assuming that we can't build a project just yet, but so far so good.

John:

You can, but only with pulleys, sprockets and round gears. You can save and reload a project and put out papaer printouts or STL modeals as saved files. 2d DXF will very shortly be ready s I decided to get that running as I ponder the best way to do the toolpaths we'll need.

Hi Art,
I failed the intuition test - I can't figure out how to the get the gear from the "tools" screen to the "project" screen.  I can change parameters on the tools screen and I can name and save the project but of course there is nothing on the project screen.

I'm missing something obvious in how to put things on the project screen.

My fault really..I use a large monitor. Drag the gear tool screen upwards..buttons will
appear to place wheel or pinion... from there youll be fine I suspect. :)

Hi Art,
Thanks - that solved the project screen problem.  Naturally I play with spokes and they don't always regenerate for me and I may have to change from epicycloid to involute and back again to get the spokes to generate.

Another thing is that I managed to put a pinion gear on the wrong gear.  In GM a right click would allow a delete - now that doesn't seem to work or is it just too soon in the development.

All sorts on new neat stuff on the screens - its fun exploring.

Thanks

Hi John;

Delete will show up soon, probably by next test .. There are few safeties at the moment, so you CAN place almost anything on anything.
Its all still "roughed-in" pretty much as yet, its taking shape, and personally I like the new interface much better than the old, but we'll see how it holds up in testing. :)
