Here is a video of making herringbone gear halves https://youtu.be/N4BpWN26Iy0  I solved the calculation problem by simply using the jog button in laserworks to jog to the centerline and then out to the edge. It is fairly simple to do that then add 1/2 the width of the tooth for the start position after the b axis is rotated 15 degrees.

I suspect your right, I don't think Ive ever seen a proper involution herringbone
cut by laser before, and it took a bit of ingenuity on your part to do it.

  On my system run by Auggie I suppose I could do it all, as it will control
the laser as well, so its a technique that I may be able to use one day, I
hadn't considered tilt table as a general utility.

  You know Dan, you've been helping me out since about June 2001 when I
sent you the first distributors license for Mach3. Thats 17 years of being
there with help,information, even business advice way back when.
For all that let me say Thank you, and I hope the new year is a great
one for you. We've both come a long way in 17 years.

  Thank you so much for those kind words. But it is I that needs to thank you for everything you have done with mach3, and gearotics. I could have never accomplished some of the things I have built using you awesome software. Keep up the great work.
I intend to do a detailed write up for the Digital Machinist Magazine and will acknowledge  how awesome GM3 is.
