Calculation for a spur gear is number of teeth plus 2 divided by the DP of the gear to get the OD.

Same applies to worm gears but you add 3

Yes the helix angle of the pinion, lets just call it a wheel, is equal to the helix angle of the worm.
If you get a worm, or piece of all thread and offer it up to a spur gear it will sit canted to one side because of the helix angle.

Only problem with this method is, as the tap starts it's running on the OD and it will generate OD*Pi / pitch of tap which will be totally different from the Pitch circle * Pi / pitch of tap.

Gearotic 1.0 used involution to calculate
a tooth, it could actually have done the job, trouble is it was good only for involutes, no other shape.

If you are going to use a form cutter you need a 32DP, 20 degree PA, No#8 cutter

Or find a nice short drill with large taper and turn the taper down into an R8
