Getting back into CNC

Post by ynneb »

Hey all, its been a VERY long time since ive used a CNC machine. (Maybe 10 years)
In the past I built two out of steel and aluminium and always quietly looked down my nose on wooden machines.
I guess with age things change. I'm currently building a plywood torsion box machine. Im loving the ease of the build, just glue and screw on bits here and there. Build in adjustment for tweaking.
So much has changed over the years. The advent of stand alone CNC motion cards, arduino CNC, tiny g etc. Im totally confused where and what to go for. I'm liking the idea if the tinyg s curve jerk planner, but not really excited about its user interface.
Somone suggested I look at auggie. They said it incorporated s curve jerk planning (Hoping Im using the right terminology)
Is Auggie still being developed or did that finish a while ago?

As far as know if you want to use with CNC you will need a pokeys controller
and its still being developed.
But i think art will chime in and give you the best info..

Hi:

You need to install Auggie only over a demo install of Gearotic. This makes sure all the files
are available.

Is this Benny from the old days or are you just using that handle.... :)

Thanks Bobby..

Ill see if I can see why this is so. I use a 64 bit Win7 with no trouble with the install.
Another of those odd troubles that only affect some machines...
Thanks for the post, it may help others.
